Ross Harrison '10, President
Ross is a Molecular Biology major from Prince Edward Island, Canada. He has minors in Sociology and Chemistry. Ross got involved in politics during the Barack Obama campaign. His future plans include medical school and working for social justice as a physician. "It has been an honor to work with such a talented group of officers," Ross says, "and the work that we accomplish would not be possible without such a dedicated and able team. I'm proud of all that we have accomplished together."
Jay Francis Shannon '11, Vice President
Jay Shannon is a Junior in the Political Science Department at UCF. During the Obama Campaign last year Jay found his passion in politics and has been inseparable from the subject ever since. Currently the only non-U.S. Citizen on the Executive Board, Jay prides himself in aiding the voting cause for others with the privilege.
Alex Harrison '12, Treasurer
Alex is a sophomore Accounting and Finance Major, and the Treasurer of The College Democrats at UCF. He first joined the College Democrats in the 2008 election season while working as an intern for the Campaign for Change. After the campaign he became involved with Organizing for America as a community organizer and intern coordinator. Organizing for America has been a very rewarding internship for the experience it has given Alex as an organizer. It has also allowed him to meet President Obama and several Representatives on several occasions.
Cortez Whatley '12, Director of Political Activism
Cortez is a first year student at UCF, majoring in both legal studies and public administrations with a minor in political science. He aspires to become an attorney specializing in civil rights and liberties. With a deep interest in policies concerning education and welfare, Cortez is currently working as a deputy campaign manager for a candidate running for Orange County Commission. In his free time, Cortez plays basketball, soccer, and plays the guitar. 'Be the change you want to see in this world' --Mahatma Gandhi
Arielle Williams '11, Director of Internal Communications
Arielle is a Junior at UCF Majoring in Health Service Administration and minoring in Legal Studies. She is an active Democrat and working for a great friend of the club and local Democratic candidate, Steve Barnes in District 34. Arielle is looking forward to going to law school Spring 2011. She is also actively involved in the University of Central Florida's Student Government Association, Dean's Student Leadership Council, and the Student Conduct Board.
Fedorah Philippeaux '12, Director of Public Relations
Fedorah is a sophomore at UCF and is currently pursuing a degree in Molecular/Microbiology as well as a degree in Engineering. She has a minor in Political Science. Fedorah enjoys singing, playing the violin, and long walks on Haitian beaches. She has been involved in politics since she was 10 when she worked with the local Kids' Vote organization and has since then worked on local races as well as campaigning with Knights for Obama group in 2008. Fedorah loves her fellow Democrats and can't wait to see what's next.
Claudia Gunter '13, Secretary
Claudia is a freshman at the University of Central Florida. She is from Tallahassee, Fl. and is currently majoring in Sociology where she plans on working with non-profit organizations, particularly the homeless community. David Mariutto '12, Historian
David is a Public Administration major with minors in Environmental Studies and Urban and Regional Planning. A South Florida native, David got most of his love of politics from his mother--a former Capital Hill Press Secretary and journalist. David's favorite Florida Democrat is his hometown representative, Debbie Wasserman-Shultz. His first time volunteering for a campaign was for Barack Obama in 2008, and now, he can't wait to help elect Alex Sink in 2010.
Martha Molfetas '10, Sergeant at Arms
Martha is a Political Science major with a focus on International Comparative Politics and has a French minor. She plans on attending graduate school in the Fall with a focus in International Affairs and Conflict Studies. When she is not completing her undergraduate thesis, Martha enjoys traveling internationally, reading periodicals and advocating for democratic values.
Ali Kurnaz '13, Webmaster
Ali is a Political Science major on the International Relations track. Born a first generation Turkish-American, he grew up in Orlando and graduated high school with recognition in community service. Web design became one of his hobbies at an early age. His first commitment to the Democratic Party was to help get Barack Obama elected into office. Priding himself as a peace activist, Ali is passionate about several international causes which he promotes through the various organizations he works with.
