On the weekend of April 3rd, the College Democrats at UCF took a camping trip to Hontoon Island State Park in Deland, Florida to commence the winding down of the spring semester. With a sizeable group of about fifteen, arriving in three different caravans, the initial challenge of the camping trip was getting everyone to the right location in order to cross the lake to camp grounds before the ferry shut down for the night. It was a bit of a close call, but everyone made it across safely.

The first group to arrive set up camp with the tents they had before the rest of the crew arrived. Luckily, there were enough blankets and bug spray to go around, but arguably not enough matzah for the Passover weekend. Firewood and lawn chairs made the setting complete and made way for an evening of bonding and laughter, with hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner, and of course, smores. While a few settled in early, others stayed up playing games in the dark and taking the flash lights to brave the wilderness trail, replete with unseen snakes and bears.

Overall the camping trip was a rousing success. Everyone had fun and positive experience, and we can now look hopefully forward to another camping trip in the future; perhaps at the beach this time!
